The Anam Cara Irish Dance
School was started in 2002
by John Lydon, TCRG, and Casey Cummings.
The school is based in Fairfield County, Connecticut, with classes held in Stamford
and New Canaan. Anam Cara, which is Gaelic for “soul friend”,
seeks to cultivate a lifelong love of Irish Dance and to foster friendships
among the dancers. Anam Cara dancers can
be seen performing at events around Fairfield
County and have
successfully earned numerous awards at local and regional competitions. They also perform year-round as a troupe at
weddings, celebrations, nursing homes, parades and various other events.
Our classes are open to both competitive
and recreational dancers of all ages and all levels, and are taught by John
Lydon, Casey Cummings and Megan Slocum.
The teachers have been long time dancers in the New England Region and
have competed and won numerous titles in local, regional, national, and world
championships. During their careers, they have danced alongside the
Chieftans and Black 47, and have performed at the White House,
Foxwoods Resort and Casino, Carnegie Hall in New York City, and on television.
